How smart glass works
Smart glass and smart film contain a thin layer of liquid crystals between two conductive films. A small electric current decides how those crystals line up, and that decides whether light passes straight through or scatters.

The liquid crystals sit in random directions and scatter light, so the glass looks frosted and private.
- 2Power on
An electric field aligns the crystals, light passes straight through and the glass turns clear.

Switch it with a wall switch, remote, phone app, voice assistant or building automation.
